چکیده

A dense stereo reconstruction technique for extracting a 3D model of a rock scene from a pair of images is presented. The technique falls under the conventional approach of extracting 3D information from a calibrated stereo pair. In this work, a single camera that is under going linear motion with respect to the scene is used. As far as correspondence analysis is concerned, a simple method for reducing the search along scan lines of the input image pair is proposed. Finally, multiple view geometry is used to produce range maps of the rock-scene. Preliminary results on a limited data set show that the quality of the produced maps is acceptable.

Dense Reconstruction Using Fixation and Stereo Cues

In this paper, we investigate the issue of accurate estimation of the three-dimensional (3D) coordinates of a static scene from real images, combining xation and stereo cues. We may need to compute 3D data in many applications: vehicle positioning and maneuver, object observation and recognition, moving or xed obstacle avoidance, 3D mapping for surveillance, etc. More speci cally, we discuss th...

Outdoor Scene Reconstruction from Multiple Image Sequences Captured by a Hand-held Video Camera

Three-dimensional (3-D) models of outdoor scenes can be widely used in a number of fields such as object recognition, navigation, scenic simulation, and mixed reality. Such models are often made manually with high costs, so that automatic 3-D reconstruction has been widely investigated. In related works, a dense 3-D model is generated by using a stereo method. However, such approaches cannot us...

Periscopic stereo and large-scale scene reconstruction

The capture of three dimensional structure from two dimensional images has received considerable attention in computer vision. Existing work has concentrated on use of stereo camera systems and the reconstruction of small objects. Recently, single cameras in motion have been used to capture sections of scenery which are subsequently reconstructed by skilled technicians with a selection of compu...

Dense 3D Motion Field Estimation from a Moving Observer in Real Time

In this chapter an approach for estimating the three-dimensional motion fields of real-world scenes is proposed. This approach combines state-of-the-art dense optical flow estimation, including spatial regularization, and dense stereo information using Kalman filters to achieve temporal smoothness and robustness. The result is a dense and accurate reconstruction of the three-dimensional motion ...
